COPIEDOrigin
Shirotae originally meant white cloth woven from bark fibers, and appears in the Man'yōshū poem 'Shirotae no fuji no takane' (Mount Fuji's white summit). The word carries an older, more poetic feeling than the plain 'shiro'.
