Ruri (lapis lazuli) is one of the shippō — seven treasures of Buddhism — and is associated with the body-color of Yakushi Nyorai, the Medicine Buddha. The color still turns up in ceramics, glass, and modern songs about 'ruri-iro no chikyū' (the lapis-blue Earth).
